The man in this photo is Joe DiRaffaele, the oldest of the eleven children of Giuseppe and Theresa DiRaffaele. Behind him is his cousin, Maria Nigrelli. In the middle, on the left, is Joe's sister Mary, and on the right is Maria's mother, Girolama "Mamie" Nigrelli. In the foreground is Joe and Mary's sister Vinnie.

Mamie was the sister of Giuseppe, the father of the eleven children. She was born in Italy in 1886 and arrived in the United States in 1910 and died in 1972 on Long Island. As far as we know, she had six children, George, born in 1904; Mary, 1910; Josephine, 1912; Lucy, 1914; Frances, 1917; and Dora (or Dorothy), in 1920.
